Why am I here?

IMG_5809First and foremost, I’m here to educate and advocate for proactivity  in your health and vitality.

Whether you’re tired and don’t feel like you’re getting through the day (or not getting through it with energy and enjoyment), you’re an athlete looking for ways to handle the demands you place on your body, or you’re working through disease or illness; your nutrition, and your environment play major roles in whether you improve your current situation.

So much information is out there, it can feel like you need a degree just to figure out what to make for dinner. I know it can feel overwhelming to sift through foods, toxins, what you need to buy organic, what different labels mean, etc. etc. etc.

My goal is to help make it attainable to not only open your eyes to the truth about our food supply and environment, but to also make it fun, invigorating and empowering.
My experience in health and wellness extends over 20 years. From a passion to a career, I have spent most of my adult life immersed in the natural health arena. I became a medical and sports massage therapist after college and my world was exponentially opened to the healing power we have in us and available to us. I then decided to become a nutritionist, and holistic health counselor, to further my knowledge and continue my lifelong passion. I have additional certifications in plant based nutrition by T. Colin Campbell, through the eCornell program, as well as in sports nutrition and medical herbalism. I’m currently  coordinating the nutrition program at The Children’s House for the 2014-15 school year; to help children, and their parents, learn more about healthy eating and the role foods play in our health.

I have worked with everyone from professional athletes, to the chronically ill, as well those looking to clean up their lifestyle and make a change.  I work with clients wherever their starting point, to educate, encourage and create a plan for reaching their goals. I know that to improve your lifestyle and make changes,  your budget and your time will be a factor.  I make it a priority to take these factors into account.  The trifecta for a healthy diet is;  time efficient, budget compatible, and healthy food.  Things don’t always hit the mark on all three, but with the knowledge I give my clients (and my readers), they can decide what makes the most sense for them.

I hope you’ll join me in the journey to learn how to eat well, be healthy, and live life to the fullest!
